BIG week for the Braves!!
Post by William
It's a big week for the Braves this week. The Giants come to Turner Field tonight for 4 games then the Diamondbacks come in Friday for 3 games. The Braves are 4 games up on the Giants in the Wild Card race and the Giants are 2 games behind the DBacks in the NL West. Hudson starts it off tonight. Lots of stuff could happen this week.
We've added a link on the upper right for updated Wildcard standings.

Tonight's "Must See TV"
Post by William
It's a 2 tv night(always is at my house) tonight.
At 6:30 on SportSouth, we get a 1 hour pregame show. The Braves are retiring Bobby Cox's #6. Have a hanky at hand. It's also the 20th anniversary of the 1991 "Worst to First" team. Most pf the former players will be there all weekend.
At 7:30 on the Cordele station (channel 11 on Mediacom) we get Dolphins at Falcons preseason.
That's a good night.

Time to give McClouth his walking papers.
Post By Mike
Ok... it is time for Nate McClouth to go.
For the last two seasons the Braves have been trying to revive the man's career, and how have those efforts worked out?
- In the last two games against Pittsburgh McClouth has come to the plate twice with the bases loaded and one out. He has 0 RBI to show for it.
- On Monday night he made a throwing error which allowed a runner to advance to second and ultimately score, and he missed another ball and then strolled back to retrieve it while runners were advancing.
- On Tuesday night he missed a bunt in that bases loaded at bat before popping out. Had he gotten the bunt down, the Braves could have won 4-3 in regulation.
- McClouth then was the first batter in the bottom of the ninth. After striking out on a pitch in the dirt, he got tossed out of the game for arguing with the umpire. Freddie Gonzalez then got the hook, and the Braves were forced to stretch their already thin bench.
* Jordan Schafer was forced into action with a broken finger.
* Alex Gonzalez was forced to play ten innings on a night he was supposed to have off.
* Our bullpen was stressed to the max.
- And the big one - in the 10th - an inning the Braves should not have been playing - McCann strains an oblique and is forced on the 15 day DL.
Last winter Georgia Tech had to take their medicine and cut a big check to fire Paul Hewitt. The Braves need to do the same. Time to trade for Upton and release McClouth.

Catching up on Tuesday
Just a few links I came across in the last few days....
The Las Vegas Hilton put out these over/under #s on total wins(regular season). 8.5 for UGA?? Go borrow money to take the over on that. that's a layup.
Over 9.5 on FSU and LSU look good too. Auburn at 6???

Tell us what you think about this. Sounds like even the Phillies are off Beltran now.

Tell us what you REALLY think about Tiger!! (Just heard he will be playing next week at Firestone, event he's won 6 times)

OK. You get ONE pick!!
Post by William
I was bored watching the Braves the other night and I started thinking......
If there was one sports related thing that I could do that I haven't done, what would it be? (Bucket List I guess. Never saw the movie)
I've had several good ones.
1999 Braves World Series game where they announced MasterCard All Century Team. When they announced Pete Rose, the place went nuts.
One day at the Masters with my Dad, brother in law, and best friend. THAT was a great day.
Played golf at East Lake and hung out afterwards having drinks and looking at Bobby Jones stuff. BIG Bobby Jones fan.
I've got 2 that will NEVER happen but would be unreal.
#1 Tuesday night of Masters week.... I get to eat dinner at the Champions Dinner. I can't imagine.
#2 I get to give the pregame speech in the UGA locker room before the Georgia Florida game. (Auburn would work too). All I would need is 5 minutes.
I've given you mine. Let's hear from you. Send us your best.
